Due to
the many enquiries seeking clarification regarding
the publication and soliciting of funds for Memoirs by
Lavetiga Tuiletufuga and Lyvia Hansell Black, we
hereby state as follows:
Clarification
is on this site in the Notices Page. The same was also
published in the Samoa Observer.
"There

Ruta Fiti Sinclair, Mata'ina Te'o and Gatoloai Tili
Peseta Afamasaga.
The Samoa
College History Project was approved by the SCOPA

contribution to the 50th anniversary celebrations of
Samoa College planned for December 2003. It remains the only

THE VISION : EDUCATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
SAMOA COLLEGE : THE FIRST 50 YEARS
The Samoa College Old Pupils Association (SCOPA) is obliged to offer the following clarification for the benefit of its members, the general public, contributors of articles to the book, and those of the donor community who had donated generously, both financially and in kind for the realization of the above project.
1. The Samoa College History Project was approved by the SCOPA Executive last year as part of the association's contribution to the 50th anniversary celebrations of Samoa College planned for December 2003. It remains the only publication for this purpose as far as the association is concerned.
2. The project is an attempt to signpost the five decades of Samoa College existence to date. In addition to being a recollection of events and experiences of former pupils, teachers and principals, the book also comprises list of entrants, honors board, staff, prefects, house captains, school roll, significant events, achievements (academic, sports, cultural) and photographs. There is a section also on the hostel and SCOPA.
3. The is a "labour of love" project in the true spirit of the phrase, being compiled voluntarily by the following people:
· Leatuaolevao Ruby Vaa - ex principal, ex teacher, ex student
· Ruta Sinclair - ex teacher, ex student
· Mataina Teo - ex student (head girl)
· Filifilia Tamasese - ex teacher
· Gatoloai Tili Afamasaga - ex teacher, ex student
4. To date, five chapters, one for each decade and comprising 75 pages each, are being refined and will be sent to the printers in September.
