SCOPA AUSTRALIA FULFILS ITS $10,000.00 PLEDGE
Last month, Lauina Grace, President of SCOPA Australia presented the final instalment
of $5000.00 to the Executives of SCOPA Samoa to fulfil our pledge of $10,000.00 towards the construction of a Multipurpose Hall at Samoa College. The other $5000.00 was presented by Faamausili Taiva in September last year.

10th Anniversary Golf Tournament a huge success.
Our 10th
Anniversary Golf tournament was a huge success with over 70 people participating. The tournament was sponsored by

SCOPA Australia made a net profit of $3022.55. SCOPA Australia
is now including a golf tournament
as part of our Annual Plan.
SCOPA Australia to present another $5000.00
SCOPA Australia at
its monthly Management Committee
meeting on Monday 11 October 2004 perused Faamausili's report on
the progress of the Multipurpose
Hall and the presentation of our $5000.00 and resolved to present
another $5000.00 by the end of this
year.
Computers for Samoa College
Also included in Faamausili's report
was a request from Samoa College
for more computers and was resolved at the same meeting that
SCOPA will start working on an additional
10 computers for Samoa College. The Management Committee will
start working on this project this
year. A time frame for the completion of this project has not
been made.
SCOPA Australia to initiate local community development projects
SCOPA Australia has approved the
implementation of a local community development project for the
Samoa community. The project will focus
on youths and members of the community have been approached for
their views and suggestions.

Newsletter launched
Welcome to the first edition of our SCOPA Australia Newsletter. The main purpose of the Newsletter is to provide a tool and forum for members to keep members up to date with what our Association is doing. It is a concerted effort by your new executives to keep everyone informed. Our newsletter will be posted on www.scopa.ws and then go to
Australia. Our Newsletter is published quarterly.

PRESENTS $5000.00
On Tuesday 7 September 2004, Faamausili Taiva Ah Young presented $5000.00 to the SCOPA Executives in Samoa as part of SCOPA Australia's on going
commitment to Samoa College and in particular the Multipurpose Hall. At the presentation were the Honourable Minister Palusalue Faapo II, Patron, Leota Uluaialii Ituauale, President Fepuleai Rimoni Alafi,Phoebe Arasi, Ulugia Fala Anamani, Salote Lesa, Vui Tapasu Leng Wai, Susana Wong, Seuamuli Sapio Tooala, Valovalo Tusani, Professor Toeutu Faaleava from USA, Taeao Filo also from USA Dr Leniu Faasino Asaua, Muagutitia Ioana Vaai. At the presentation, SCOPA briefed Faamausili about the current situation regarding the Multipurpose Hall.
SCOPA AUSTRALIA MEETS WITH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
During his visit to Samoa, Faamausili also met with the School Principal Mr Reipena Rimoni to discuss the schools urgent needs. Reupena identified additional computers to expand the current computer class as a priority.
SCOPA AUSTRALIA CALLS FOR A MASTER PLAN
SCOPA Australia has expressed its concerns with the current state of the school and the ad hoc approach in constructing projects and buildings and call on the School Principal to consider having a master plan for the school to ensure that buildings and other projects are being built in a co-ordinated and planned way.
SCOPA AUSTRALIA TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS
At its monthly meeting on Friday 17 September the Management Committee confirmed the Golf Day on Monday 4 October 2004. The entry fee is $50.00 the tournament is being sponsored by Polynesian Airlines and Zsaina International. All members are urged to promote the tournament as this is part of our fundraising to support our 2 main goals for this financial year, Samoa College and the local Samoan community. members who can not attend the golf tournament can join us for lunch for $25.00 per person.
