Welcome to the first edition of our SCOPA Australia Newsletter. The
main purpose of the Newsletter is to provide a tool and
forum for members to keep members up to date with what our
Association is doing. It is a concerted effort by your new
executives to keep everyone informed. Our newsletter will be
posted on www.scopa.ws
and then go to Australia.

SCOPA Annual General Meeting
Our Association had its AGM on Saturday 7 August 2004 and the new
executives are as follows
President is Ms Lauina Grace
Vice President is Ms Alisa Crighton-Peacock
Secretary is Faamausili Taiva
Treasurer is Ms Tipesa Solaese
Assistant Treasurer
is Ms Vaopipi Litia Simonea and
Public Officer is Ms May Shenstonnes.

SCOPA Directions for 2004-2005
SCOPA Australia has re-affirmed its commitment to supporting Samoa
College and the Samoan community in Australia.

WS$5000.00 for Samoa College
SCOPA Australia has approved the amount of WS$5000.00 for Samoa College
to be presented in September 2004.

SCOPA Australia is 10 years old!
Our Association is planning a golf tournament on 4 October 2004 to
celebrate 10 years of incorporation and to raise funds for
goals for this financial year. Please contact Faamausili on

Members directory
During our telethon in November 2003 we discovered that we have more
that 80 members in NSW alone! We have now established a
members directory and if you have just arrived or would like
your name included please contact Faamausili or Lauina Grace

Miss
Samoa Australia Pageant
At the AGM, it was resolved that the Miss Samoa Australia Pageant be
revived to be held in 2005. If you are interested in sending
in a contestant please contact Lauina Grace, Faamausili, May
or Tipesa. Refer to contact details in this Newsletter.

Samoan
community support
One of our goals and direction for 2004-2005 is to start community
development projects for our Samoan community in Australia.
Any suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

The executives will be starting our membership drive for this financial
year. Please join us to help Samoa College and our own
